Aptitude Test in Hearing Aid Dispensing (Single Module)
The Aptitude Test in Hearing Aid Dispensing single module has been designed to meet the needs of Audiologists who wish to become eligible to apply for registration with the (HCPC) as a registered hearing aid dispenser (RHAD).
The module may be suitable for audiologists working in the National Health Service (NHS) or students graduating from audiology degree courses which do not have HCPC approval.
Aptitude Test in Hearing Aid Dispensing: The course in brief
The aim of the module is to:
- provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to equip them for a career in hearing aid audiology;
- develop key transferable skills in general use in employment so that students become competent in both autonomous practice and in team-work; and
- develop motivation and ability to engage in continuing professional development and life-long learning.
How will I be taught?
Structure, delivery, duration and outcome
Structure: This is a single module (10 credits, SCQF level 8)
Delivery: The module is delivered online, followed by an exam which can be taken at a location close to you.
Duration: Typically around 8 weeks (6 weeks online, 2 weeks catch-up time and then an exam)
Outcome: On successful completion, this聽module will offer currently qualified audiologists the eligibility to apply to聽the Health and Care Professions Council聽for registration as hearing aid dispensers.
Teaching, learning and assessment
This module is delivered online. There will be a variety of lecture formats, tasks and online class discussions, quizzes plus directed reading. Your tutor will be available online for support with content and tasks.
